According to Wired, Microsoft will release a Joy Division edition of its Zune MP3 player to coincide with the June 10th release of a DVD about the band. This version of the Zune will feature Peter Saville’s iconic 1979 artwork for the band’s Unknown Pleasures album.
The 30 GB Microsoft Zune is the #1 MP3 seller on Amazon.com
. The iPods rank #2 and #3 respectively.
It makes sense as the 30 GB Zunes were deeply discounted and can be upgraded to the same software to the new Zune 80
. This is especially true since Amazon and all other online retailers sold out the initial batch of the Zune 80.
So I was browsing Amazon.com to check out the Zunes and I was shocked to learn that Amazon only had only two Zune 80s left!
Only 1 left in stock–order soon (more on the way). Availability: In stock on December 14, 2007. Order it now.
They also sold out on their Zune 8s (Pink, Red and Green) and ony 3 of the Black Zune 8s left!
Only 3 left in stock–order soon.
I will upload some scans later! If you want a Black Zune 8 you better get it now! It is simply amazing that a huge online retailer would sell out of their inventory of Microsoft Zunes through pre-orders and less than 24 hours of the first day of sales. That is what happens when you offer free shipping and no tax on the sale!
In the past few months news broke that Microsoft invested $240 million for a small stake in the popular community site Facebook. The initial thought was Microsoft wanted to use Facebook to run their version of Google ads. Recently more news is surfacing about Facebook’s plan to offer Facebook Music to its members. The partnership with Facebook and Microsoft’s strategy to make Microsoft’s Zune integrated more into social networking websites makes one think that Zune users will be able to show off what they are listening to on sites like MySpace and Facebook, and be able to download music for a price of sites like Facebook for your Zune.
Zune users are already able to share songs from Zune to Zune with the unique Wi-Fi capability. Zune users that receive a song are give a “3 play” limit before they are required to purchase the song. One would think that sharing music on Facebook would make a sensible approach to mass market songs. Should be interesting to see how Microsoft and Facebook work together and how Facebook uses all the millions (soon to be billions when Facebook goes public).

Great idea from Microsoft to offer a Pink Zune to help fight breast cancer. Since it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month Microsoft is teaming up with Warriors in Pink to fight breast cancer. 100% of the sale price, not just the profit, will go to the Susan G. Koman For the Cure.
I recently discovered a DVD to video program specifically built for the Microsoft Zune.

The software is responsible at $29.95 and the company offers a free trial version. The program is just 2.2 MB to download. The features include:

2. Works very fast and has been tested on most DVD drives (use the trial version to see if it works for you!)
3, Enables you to different video options including MP4 video codec Xvid and H264, a rich list of different resolutions, video bitrates, video frame rates, audio bitrates, audio frequency, etc (see interface below).
Here is an image of the DVD to Zune converter interface.
