Facebook and Microsoft Music Partnership?
In the past few months news broke that Microsoft invested $240 million for a small stake in the popular community site Facebook. The initial thought was Microsoft wanted to use Facebook to run their version of Google ads. Recently more news is surfacing about Facebook’s plan to offer Facebook Music to its members. The partnership with Facebook and Microsoft’s strategy to make Microsoft’s Zune integrated more into social networking websites makes one think that Zune users will be able to show off what they are listening to on sites like MySpace and Facebook, and be able to download music for a price of sites like Facebook for your Zune.
Zune users are already able to share songs from Zune to Zune with the unique Wi-Fi capability. Zune users that receive a song are give a “3 play” limit before they are required to purchase the song. One would think that sharing music on Facebook would make a sensible approach to mass market songs. Should be interesting to see how Microsoft and Facebook work together and how Facebook uses all the millions (soon to be billions when Facebook goes public).
