I cannot install the firmware 1.2 update. I have three computers and it won't install on any of them. I have two zunes and they are both useless. Microsoft says that it is a known problem with NO KNOWN FIX at this time. Great, how am I supposed to tell my two kids that they can't use their christmas presents until someone at MS figures out the fix???? Anyone got any suggestions?

well, i was on the phone with zune support for 45 minutes to fix it, and it was really complex... after that, the next time I connected the zune to my pc, i got that irritating "give your zune some love" or whatever... it had switched it BACK to 1.1

It's really VERY irritating

Am I just slow witted or is it that Microsoft does not know how easy it could be to work together with other teams within their own company? I mean really, they should fire the Zune firmware developers for complete incompetence on the spot!! I don't mean to sound harsh here but there are a couple of things that the Zune should include right out of the box that it is lacking at this time.

1. This is for you Zune firmware developers, did you ever hear about auto shutoff? It's this function that when you leave a device on for more than a preset amount of time, it actually shuts off!! You guys might want to consider that in the next firmware revision. Personally, if I were your hiring manager, I would fire you and then myself because this would have been extremely simple to implement!!

2. Again for the firmware developers, if you want to add equalizer functionality to a device, you might actually consider allowing a custom equalizer setting. I mean I don't know here but even the little Sandisk device (that is another MP3 device out there if you Microsoft guys don't understand hat name) actually was able to implement these functions to the utter embarrassment of Microsft Zune firmware engineers!!

Hey Zune firmware guys, call the folks over in the Windows Media Player division, they actually implemented the equalizer functionality into the software that runs on my PC. I thought that was a Microsoft product now, you guys should actually take advantage of the knowledge in your other departments. Like I said, you should be fired for the lack of complete competence within your engineering department. It really is not that hard to implement this functionality into the device!!!

Signed: Frustrated Zune user that cannot fathom the sheer stupidity of the Zune firmware developers out there being paid to do a job that they are failing at!!!

I am not asking for the Wi-Fi experience here, just basic functionality you morons!

I agree with the equalizer BS that other, cheaper, and lesser-known companies have incorporated into their own mp3 players. I don't know how anyone else here uses their zune, but I'm constantly working out with it. When I work out, I use small earbuds...but the thing with small speakers is that the highs/treble in the music are emphasized to the point of pain in the ears (I have the volume set anywhere from 10-13, so I don't really have it up all that loud). With larger headphones, that problem isn't as noticeable. If there were a custom equalizer where I could turn the highs down, again, like the other, cheaper mp3 players, then I wouldn't have that problem with earbuds either.
