Zune MarketPlace Available for Download
Well don’t know how, but guys from ZuneCorps found the Zune MarktPlace download installer on the Microsoft servers. There is no link yet on the official Zune site - Zune.net but the file is just sitting there waiting to be downloaded.

I jut installed it and so far it’s a big let down. It has a goofy automated way to import music. I was expecting an iTunes like program that would take up less resources in the windows enviorment. I felt like i was using windows media player. And I can’t believe I had to restart my PC during installation. I was really hoping MS was finally going to do something right, They where so successful with the first Xbox and I was really expecting that they where going to pull that off again. I’m still going to give it some more testing, hopefully I just need to get used to it.
I just checked the memory usage of zune and itunes. I included all the running processes of itunes (iTunes.exe, iTuneshelper.exe and iPodService.exe) they added up to just under 50 MB. and Zune alone takes up just under 90 MB. Both where playing the same music at the same time and had the same amount of songs in the library, and neither where running visualizers.
True. I was just as disapointed with the software, I was expecting much better. It took me an hour to install, well I had a lot of other things running. Still iTunes was a breeze to install. A letdown so far… Ill have to continue testing it out tommorow.
And whats with the parental approval now?! Odd. I thought Microsoft wanted something easier than WMP. Guess I was wrong. Sorry, Im just dissapointed. =(
guess what? its not very good for some reason it wont play any of my songs from itunes that i encoded to mp3 because i think the kbps rate is too high ive only got it to play 128kbps mp3 files atm and im unable to play any 160kbps mp3s, help anyone? if i have to re-encode y whole library i think id rather get an ipod
another thorn in the software is the fact that it by default gives all of your media a rating of 3 stars which makes it difficult to go and rate several songs at a time, since you can’t tell which ones you think are 3 stars and which ones are 3 stars by default. And I still haven’t found a way to turn off the stupid artwork, it takes up so much space in the browser it’s ridiculous. They really need to get their act together soon if they want to compete with apple.
