Zune Video Converter - Reviewed
With the Zune MarketPlace being out and all, and the Zune its self only a few days away, if you are any thing like me and have a massive video collection but all of which are in non supported Zune formats then you have allot of converting to do. I went hunting this morning for a video converter to do the job and came across Cucusoft Zune Video Converter.
After downloading the install, which was a little over 6mb, this is the start of the install.
And this is what the program looks like once all installed and up and running. Its pretty much 3 separate windows just sitting next to each other, so you can move each one around and re arrange them to suit you. Its a really easy to use interface, and very simple to set up and get going. There is no need to tweek any of the settings which you see on the right, they are all set to the right settings to suit the Zune. So you can be converting you videos with in a few seconds of opening the program, just drag and drop the Videos you want into the box and hit convert.

Once clicking “Convert” it fires up and starts converting the video into MP4 or what ever format you wanted. The on screen Zune is there the video is played while converting, but its all jumpy and no sound, so its just to be used a reference for you to know where its up to.
All done.
Once converted you can have it open the file directory of where the converted video has gone and then do as you wish with it.
So thats the Cucusoft Zune Video Converter, its a very easy to use program and simple as any thing to set up and start converting. How ever this program is not free, and if you download the trial version, your videos will have a big water mark on it. The program retails for $39.95 and can be purchased from here.
Until I find a good enough free program, looks like this converter takes the top spot for Zune video converters.

But I don’t get alot of these programs, this one works well, but almost none of these program converts directly to .wmv, the only format the Zune will play, now sure these files can be converted to .wmv by the zune sync but thats another step of transcoding. And more time involved. Plus you can get alot of programs to convert to mp4, am I missing something here?

Well Zune can play MP4 which is what it converts to.
My Understanding is it can only play .wmv files. The Software can convert H.264 and .mp4 to .WMV
[…] Here is another Zune video converter, this one is followed up with a great tutorial by Microsoft Zune employee, David Caulton. […]
Cucusoft converts to .wmv file so it syncs without having to reconvert it. You just have to select it from the menu
There are many other zune movie converters out there, but cucusoft zune video converter is absolutely one of the best, just like all the other cucusoft products.
