Zune Windows XP Theme

Along with the launch of the Official Zune site - Zune.net and its little brother - Zune-Arts.net has come a Zune theme for Windows XP. So that along with your new Zune you can be sporting a sexy new Zune theme on your computer. Below is the install and what it looks like once applied (Click images for full view)

Zune Theme 2

The install stage, nothing special.

Zune Theme 3

After a few seconds of installing the Desktop setting window pops up allowing you to make the Zune switch.

Zune Theme 1

The Zune theme. The theme is pretty nice, it really is just like one of those Vista themes but a black and orange color style. The only two things getting me down is the desktop background, I don’t know if its me and my screen resolution but it seems to be a little pixelated for me and that the theme does not really scream “Zune” only Zune thing I have noticed is the background logo. Other then that its a pretty solid theme, and worth a the small 1.6 mb download.

The install is bad. If you look at the screen shot… the tasks towards the left are not themed. to fix this go to c:windows:resources:themes:zune and create a folder titled “Shell.” In the “Shell” folder create another folder named “NormalColor.” Then drop the shellstyle.dll file in the zune theme folder into the “NormalColor” folder and reapply your theme. Then your tasks will have a orange bar matching the theme and the mix of classic theme and zune theme will be gone.

You can modify the msi installer to not check for the OS version, by downloading orca and then removing the LaunchConditions entry in the InstallExecuteSequence of the MSI

This Zune theme is really nice. By the way, if you do not like Zune’s wallpaper what you have to do is just go to webshots and install it in your box. That’s what I did and then Zune is really nice indeed. Two thumbs up to the creators and the best is that it is free. There are really very few free themes for Windows and those which you find out there very often will eat away a lot of memory.
